LuViva works by combining fluorescence and reflectance spectroscopy to identify chemical and physical changes in cervical cellular tissue. The LuViva Cervical Guide shines a light painlessly onto the cervix for about a minute.
- The patient is positioned with legs in stirrups, and a speculum is inserted into the vagina
- The Cervical Guide, attached to a handheld unit, is inserted through the speculum into the vagina until it reaches the cervix
- A live video feed on the touch screen monitor helps the operator align the Cervical Guide
LuViva analyzes the spectral data and displays the results on the touch screen monitor for review right at the point of care
The Output Results Are Denoted by Color:
- Low – A negative result indicates that further evaluation is not necessary and the woman may return to routine screening
- Moderate – Indicates that other medical factors should be considered before determining whether to monitor the patient or perform a further evaluation
- High – A positive result indicates that further evaluation is necessary
After the scan, the LuViva operator can view a magnified image of the patient’s cervix, incorporating selected areas to be incorporated into a report.
